Instagram Can Help, No Matter Who You Are

No matter who you are, you must never underestimate the power of social media. Usually used to share moments with people, they can also be used as a helping tool when some problem arises. When one of Rihanna’s dancers went missing last Saturday, the singer initiated a campaign on Instagram in order that others could help look for her.

Shirlene Quigley is one of Rihanna’s dancers, and from Saturday on no one knew anything about her. Her parents were desperate to find her, and so was Rihanna (@badgirlriri on Instagram), who shared a message with her 43 million followers to see if someone could help her find Quigley. Two days ago, she posted a picture of her with a heartbreaking caption:

This beautiful soul, and former dancer of mine is MISSING!!! My heart aches thinking of how heavy this is on all who love her! If anyone has seen or has any information on @shirlenequigley‘s whereabouts ….. PLEASE CONTACT the North Bergen Police Department 201 392 2100 !!!

She has been missing for three days

The dancer’s father was the first to sound the alarm and go to the police department. He also alerted every friend or close acquaintance of her daughter. This lead to the police finding Quigley’s phone in a boutique for brides in NYC’s Chelsea. Finally, she was found yesterdayin a hospital. She didn’t want to reveal any details as to why she was therem or where had she been before having been found.

Rihanna has shown us that it is possible to get to yout fans and ask them for help. That’s the power of social media. As the interconnect people, they make collaboration much easier amongst people.
